The program emphasizes feminist approaches to understanding and engaging with the artworld, which has become increasingly complex with the diversification of feminisms and their intersections with geographic location, age, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic identity, political moments, social movements, familial and community structures, and more. The program seeks to address these complexities, making feminist art and practices both effective and legible. It also aims to contribute to the production of new and necessary historiographies, practices, and theories.

UK fee £4,786 Full-time degree per annum International fee £21,500 Full-time degree per annum 2024-25 tuition fees are applicable to projects starting in October 2024, January 2025, April 2025 and July 2025. Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:

  • Applicants must have, or expect to achieve, at least a 2:1 honours degree (or equivalent international qualification) in the major subject of their research field, or in a related subject.
  • Candidates must have a 2:1 honours degree regardless of any further qualifications they have.
  • A masters degree and/or experience as an artist, art worker, art school academic, or other professional experience related to your proposal may be an advantage.
  • International students outside the EU can check their country specific entry requirements by selecting their country from the drop-down list.

Language Proficiency Requirements:

  • All applicants whose first language is not English are required to provide evidence of their English language proficiency.
  • The minimum English language requirement for this program is an IELTS score of 6.5, with no individual band score below 6.0.
  • The University will consider all applications on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the applicant's qualifications, experience, and research proposal.
