Overview
The Intensive Ancient Greek Summer School offers students who have not previously had the opportunity to study Ancient Greek intensive training designed to bring them from complete beginners to a point where they are able to read simple texts. The course is ideal for students who intend to study for a Masters or Doctoral degree, Y12 and Y13 school pupils, teachers, undergraduates, mature students, and anyone with an interest in the Hellenic or Roman world.

The course aims to:
- Provide students with a strong foundation in Ancient Greek grammar and vocabulary.
- Develop students' ability to read and understand simple Ancient Greek texts.
- Introduce students to the culture and history of ancient Greece.
Description
The course is six weeks long and is divided into two sessions. Students can choose to attend either the first three-week block (for absolute beginners) or the second three-week block (for students at intermediate level). The program features:
- Daily language classes: Students work through the JACT Reading Greek course in daily language classes.
- Private study: Students are expected to put in a number of hours of private study to consolidate class work and to complete homework assignments.
- Staff support: Staff are on hand to offer private tutorials and surgery hours, as required.
- Assessment: Assessment is by three in-class tests.
- Guest lectures: Workshops by guest lecturers offer an introduction to skills such as epigraphy.
- Guided tours: Guided tours or behind-the-scenes sessions at the British Museum may be offered.

Assessment
Assessment is by three in-class tests.
