Program Overview


The MSc Voluntary Sector Management program at Bayes Business School is a one-year postgraduate program designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to succeed in leadership and management roles within the voluntary sector. The program's objectives are to develop a broad knowledge and understanding of non-profit organizations, develop cognitive, intellectual, and interpersonal skills, and acquire the ability to deliver direct benefits back to their organizations. The program is assessed through a combination of coursework, examinations, and a dissertation.

Program Outline

Degree Overview: The MSc Voluntary Sector Management program at Bayes Business School is a one-year postgraduate program designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in leadership and management roles within the voluntary sector. It is a part-time program that can be completed in 24 months. The program's objectives are to:

  • Develop a broad knowledge and understanding of non-profit organizations, the external context within which they operate, and how they should be led and managed (integrating the different disciplines holistically).
  • Develop and challenge your own understanding and appreciation of the conceptual foundation of these fields, and of their relevance in an applied setting.
  • Develop deep, relevant insights into charity management from your peers from different but related backgrounds through networking, study, and sharing of ideas.
  • Acquire the ability to deliver direct benefits back to your organization in the form of recommendations for improved effectiveness across all the subject areas covered.
  • Outline: The program consists of five core modules that all students take, as well as a range of specialist modules that students can choose from. The core modules are:
  • Learning and Understanding the Voluntary Sector
  • Strategy, Diversity, and Governance
  • Marketing and Fundraising
  • People Management in the Voluntary Sector
  • Charity Accounting and Finance
  • The specialist modules are:
  • Organisation, Leadership, and Change
  • Managing People and Quality
  • Shadowing
  • Assessment: The program is assessed through a combination of coursework, examinations, and a dissertation. Teaching: The program is taught by a team of experienced academics and practitioners. Careers: The program prepares students for a variety of careers in the voluntary sector, including leadership and management roles in charities, non-profit organizations, and social enterprises. Other: The program is designed to be flexible and can be tailored to the individual needs of students. The program is offered at the Bayes Business School campus in the heart of London.

A deposit of £400 is payable on acceptance of a place. For self-paying students, the balance is payable in two instalments, the first during the registration process September and the second at the end of January. The conversion fee for the following year of entry will be subject to an annual inflationary increase
