Program Overview

Cal Lutheran's Exercise Science program emphasizes research from the start, providing students with state-of-the-art equipment and research opportunities. The program offers two emphasis areas: Health Professions and Human Performance, preparing graduates for careers in medicine, physical therapy, fitness management, and more. The Curriculum

• The program emphasizes research from the beginning.
Students learn research methods, participate in projects as subjects, complete group research projects later on, and culminate their studies with a senior capstone research project.

• Biodex Isokinetic Unit
• Optical motion capture system
• Telemetered EMG system
• Metabolic measurement systems
• 12-channel ECG
• Ergometers
• Bod Pod body composition analyzer
• Research laboratories in the Gilbert Sports and Fitness Center:
• Ultrasound
• Air Displacement Plethysmography (Bod Pod)
• Research opportunities include:
• Summer research programs (Swenson, ALLIES in STEM, Aperture)
• Directed research with faculty
• Independent study

• Health Professions:
