Master of Leadership

Program Overview

The Master of Leadership (MLE) program at AC equips graduates with advanced leadership theory and skills applicable in practical settings. It offers specializations in Church Leadership and Entrepreneurship, fostering a Christian worldview in leadership and preparing graduates for leadership roles in various sectors. The program's flexible study modes and financial assistance options make it accessible to a wide range of students.

Master of Leadership (MLE)

Overview:

• Flagship award in AC's Transforming Leadership Program.
• Provides a core of leadership knowledge and professional application.
• Explores areas of specific interest in pastoral, educational and business management and influence.
• Produces graduates with in-depth understanding of leadership, integrated with Christian worldview, vocation and community standards.
• Equips graduates with advanced leadership theory applicable in practical settings.
• Develops skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication.

• Prepare graduates for leadership roles in various sectors.
• Foster a Christian worldview in leadership.

Outline:

Structure:

• Three semesters (13 weeks each).
• Four subjects per semester.
• Comprises:
• 4 core subjects (40 credit points).
• 3 specialization subjects* (30 credit points).
• 4 elective subjects (40 credit points).
• 1 Capstone project** (10 credit points).

• Entrepreneurship
• Educational Leadership (subject to availability)

Schedule:

• Full-time: 1.5 years (starting in Semester 2) or 2 years (starting in Semester 1).
• Part-time: Up to 7 years.

Core Subjects:

• Authentic Leadership (LEA401).
• Organisational Leadership (LEA535).
• Governance, Law and Ethics (LEA550).
• Christian Worldview (THE401).

Capstone Project:

• Choose one of:
• Leadership Research Project (RES591).
• Research Project (RES501).

Specialization Subjects:

Church Leadership:

• Church and Society (MIN507).
• Church Planting (MIN508).
• 10 cp BIB/COM/LEA/MIN/THE 400 level or above.

Entrepreneurship:

• Creativity and Entrepreneurship (LEA511).
• Entrepreneurship Business and Mission (BUS547).
• 10 cp ACC/BUS/COM/HRM/LEA/MAN/MKT 400 level or above.

Elective Subjects:

• Students in a specialization choose 4 subjects (40 credit points) from accredited Level 8 and 9 subjects offered by the College, including subjects from other specializations.
• Students not in a specialization choose 7 subjects (70 credit points) from accredited Level 8 and 9 subjects offered by the College.

• Vice-principal in schools.
• Management positions in for-profit businesses.
• Doctoral studies.

Other:

• Master of Leadership program is overseen by Program Director Duane Van Vuuren.
• Students may choose to specialize in Church Leadership or Entrepreneurship.
• Students who may pursue a Higher Degree Research course are recommended to choose the Research Project (RES501) as the capstone.
• Students can mix-and-match study modes (face-to-face, online live, online recorded, intensive) throughout the course.
• Some subjects may only be available in certain study modes each semester.
• FEE-HELP is available for eligible students.
• Study Loans is an alternative option for financing studies.
