Year 1 (National Level 4):

Introduction to Fashion Practice and Fashion Promotion (60 credits): This module introduces core concepts of fashion design and promotion, including terminology, critical appraisal of briefs, visual and factual research, idea generation, and presentation skills.

Students develop a 6-outfit collection for a High Street/online store, alongside a promotional campaign including advertising and packaging, targeting a specific audience. The module also covers basic digital CAD packages, construction processes, pattern drafting, fabric types, and embellishment techniques.

Design Concept to Production (40 credits): This module focuses on developing pattern-cutting, fabrication, design, and construction skills.

Students engage in technical pattern cutting, construction, and visual communication exercises. They apply a design process, including research, idea generation, and presentation. The module explores technical design skills through manual and digital methodologies.

Year 2 (National Level 5):

Commercial Fashion Design and Illustration (20 credits): This module focuses on developing advanced illustration and presentation skills for designing for a specific market sector, in this case, sportswear.

Students learn various illustration techniques to enhance their designs and improve presentation. The module includes both hand-rendered and digital illustration styles.

Fashion Branding and Producing the Event (20 credits): This module is divided into two projects:

Project 1: Students learn to investigate and analyze trends and design ideas to create a final range plan. They also develop an individual brand identity, including a logo and promotional literature for their range plan.

Project 2: Students gain an understanding of planning, promoting, and branding a fundraising event in Thessaloniki.

They work in teams to raise funds for their final year show. Students develop creative design practice within a specified commercial context, investigating a specific market. The module covers pattern-cutting, construction methods, fabric awareness, and sustainability.

Experiencing the Creative Industries (20 credits): This module focuses on developing essential job search skills, including identifying employers, tailoring CVs, understanding the shortlisting process, branding and promoting oneself, interview techniques, and presenting work effectively.

Students participate in a short work placement or other experience in the creative industries. The module also emphasizes building a professional network and online presence.

Global Issues and the Ethical Designer (20 credits): This module continues to explore the context, development, and theories behind fashion product promotion, supporting practical work and helping students focus on their dissertation topic for the final year.


Final Year (National Level 6):

Professional Practice & Portfolio (40 credits): This module focuses on developing a professional portfolio showcasing individual design skills and creativity.

Students complete briefs or live projects to demonstrate their personal style in design, promotion, and branding. They receive guidance through personal tutorials to achieve a professional standard of presentation.

Design Research Project (20 credits): This module involves an in-depth investigation into a specific issue or topic relevant to the student's development as a designer or a broader societal issue.

Students utilize their knowledge of design and theoretical disciplines and techniques gained in previous modules. The module culminates in a dissertation (3500 to 4500 words) supported by a clear central question and hypothesis.

Design – Major Final Portfolio (60 credits): This module allows students to set their own brief, which is carefully researched and presented in a Final Proposal.

Students direct their personal project in various ways.
