Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:

The Vancouver Film School's 3D Animation & Visual Effects program has specific requirements for admission.


For Canadian Applicants:

  • Applicants are expected to hold a high school diploma with satisfactory completion of English 12, Math 10, and at least two more academic subjects.
  • For mature applicants (19 years or older) without a high school diploma, the school allows for submitting an application and sitting for a placement test instead.

For International Students (EU and Outside EU):

  • Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Applicants whose first language isn't English require providing proof of English language proficiency through recognized tests like TOEFL, IELTS, PTE Academic, CAEL, or Duolingo English Test.
  • Minimum Score Requirements for these exams are as follows:
  • TOEFL iBT: 88 overall, with at least 22 in Writing and Speaking sections.
  • IELTS: 6.5 overall, with no individual band below 6.0.
  • CAEL: 70 overall.
  • PTE Academic: 58 overall, with no score lower than 50 in any of the four skill sections.
  • Duolingo English Test: 115 overall.

  • Applicants need to demonstrate sufficient financial resources to cover their tuition fees and living expenses in Vancouver during their studies.
