Program Description:
Participants embark on a journey through traditional Japanese natural dyeing methods, beginning with an introduction to the process and gaining inspiration from the Textiles & Dress Collection. The program guides participants through the process of preparing, dyeing, and modifying natural colors on cloth, allowing them to choose a sustainable linen item (apron or cushion cover) to serve as the canvas for their designs. Subsequently, they will explore various printing techniques using natural dyes as printing ink, utilizing their honed skills in mark-making and drawing to create unique patterns and expressions. The course combines guided activities with individual exploration and reflection, ensuring a meaningful and memorable learning experience. Throughout the program, participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas, collaborate, and learn from one another, culminating in a private view of their work and a chance to discuss their creations.
