MA Interior Design

Program Overview

The MA Interior Design program at AUB Online is a two-year, part-time program designed for graduates with a related degree or aspiring interior designers. The program focuses on developing expertise in contemporary living needs, creating sustainable and well-being-focused spaces, and enhancing specialist practice knowledge in various design disciplines. Students will learn through a blended approach of research and practice, with an emphasis on sustainability, design for wellbeing, and biophilic design.

• Delivery: Online and part-time.

Modules:

• Introduction (15 credits): Covers program structure, research and academic standards, learning and assessment methods, project outcomes and expectations, and evidence-based design techniques.
• Specialism/Practice (15 credits): Explores various forms of interior design across different sectors, allows students to define their research focus.
• Sustainable Futures (15 credits): Focuses on implementing sustainable approaches to domestic and commercial design projects.
• Collaboration (15 credits): Develops a collaborative approach to interior design, integrating techniques with healthcare and lifestyle living.
• Experience (15 credits): Focuses on the interior design of commercial spaces, from initial concepts to detailing.
• Reinvent (15 credits): Explores enhancing old features into new ones, creating sustainable work through repurposing materials, styles, spaces, and structures.
• Transition (15 credits): Introduces a different perspective on using the five senses to enhance the user experience, exploring spatial awareness, premonition, intuition, and meanings of interiority, space, and time.
• Inclusivity (15 credits): Focuses on designing for diverse occupancy within domestic, work, and educational environments, researching how to create spaces that support multigenerational and community living.
• Research Methods (15 credits): Helps students investigate and select a strong, original topic for their Master's Project.
