Pharmacology for Podiatrists (CPD)

Program Overview

This online Pharmacology for Podiatrists module covers the principles of pharmacology, the action and use of various drugs, and pharmaceutical care. It leads to annotation on the HCPC register for the use of prescription-only medicines available to podiatrists. The program is validated by the HCPC and is open to individuals with an ordinary degree and HCPC annotation for local anaesthetics.

This Pharmacology for Podiatrists single module covers various aspects of pharmacology relevant to podiatry practice. The module is delivered online and leads to annotation on the HCPC register for the use of prescription-only medicines available to podiatrists.

Content:

• The principles of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics
• The action and use of antibiotic and antifungal drugs used in podiatry
• The action and use of drugs for disorders of the cardiovascular system, central and peripheral nervous system, respiratory system, endocrine system, and drugs related to the management of musculoskeletal conditions
• The MHRA (Medicine and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency) and the Yellow Card Scheme
• Pharmaceutical Care for Podiatrists

• Delivered online with tutor support

• This program can be studied on its own, as part of the MSc Podiatry (Pre-Registration), or as part of the MSc Theory of Podiatric Surgery.

• The program is open to individuals who are annotated on the HCPC register for the use of local anaesthetics and educated to ordinary degree level (BSc).
