Program Overview

This fully online program provides serving military personnel and veterans with a foundation in health concepts and numeracy skills. Through modules on health project development, student success, and current health issues, students gain knowledge and skills for careers in healthcare, such as nursing, midwifery, and public health. The program is funded by the Ministry of Defence and prepares graduates for further study in health-related honours degrees.

Students will work in groups to identify a health issue, research the issue, develop a plan to address the issue, and present their plan to the class.
• Numeracy for Health: This module teaches students the essential numeracy skills needed for a career in health.
Students will learn how to calculate dosages, interpret data, and use statistical methods.
• Student Success: This module helps students develop the skills and knowledge needed for academic success, including time management, study skills, and critical thinking.
• Issues in Health: This module explores current issues in health and healthcare, including infectious diseases, chronic diseases, and mental health.
