Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:


EU Home Students :

  • Good 2.1 or 1st-class undergraduate degree, or equivalent.
  • This could be a bachelor's degree, foundation degree, or recognised postgraduate diploma.
  • Applicants for the PhD should also have, or be currently completing, an MA degree.
  • Applicants for the PhD typically require an MA dissertation mark of at least 65, or equivalent (where 50 is a bare pass and 70 or above is a distinction).
  • Exceptions can be made for applicants with an unusual career profile and substantial related experience, at the discretion of the admissions committee.

International Overseas Students (Outside the EU):

  • Same requirements as EU Home Students.
  • Proof of English Language Proficiency, meeting the University's minimum standards (see Language Proficiency Requirements).
