The Tri-TRAILS program is a three-year accelerated path to an M.D. degree, designed for highly motivated students pursuing Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics. Overview:

The Tri-TRAILS curriculum is a three-year accelerated path to obtaining an M.D. degree from the Quillen College of Medicine. This pathway allows students to complete medical school in less time and at a reduced cost compared to the traditional four-year program. The curriculum is designed for highly motivated students who have identified Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics as their chosen specialty.


Objectives:

  • Provide students with a solid foundation in medical knowledge and clinical skills, comparable to students in the four-year program.
  • Enhance students' competitiveness for matching into residency programs in their chosen field.
  • Reduce the overall time and cost of medical school for selected students.

Program Description:

The Tri-TRAILS curriculum consists of the following components:

  • Year 1: Students complete the same core coursework and clinical experiences as students in the four-year program.
  • Additionally, they have eight weeks of clinical experiences between year one and year two.
  • Year 2: Students complete their pre-clerkship preceptor experience with faculty in their chosen residency program.
  • Year 3: Students complete the required clinical clerkships and take the USMLE Step 2 CK exam.
  • They also complete a Keystone experience and sub-internship and ICU experience.
