American Sign Language Minor

Program Overview

The American Sign Language Minor at East Tennessee State University provides students with training in ASL for communication with the Deaf community. The 18-credit minor includes courses in ASL proficiency, Deaf culture, and linguistic perspectives on ASL. Students are encouraged to consult with an advisor before selecting courses.

• The minor in American Sign Language (ASL) is appropriate for students wishing training in ASL for future communication with individuals in the Deaf community.
• The minor consists of a minimum of 18 credits of study.
• Students are encouraged to consult with a departmental advisor and review course descriptions prior to selecting and registering for class.
