Program Overview


The Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (Honours) with a specialism in Accounting Technology equips students with a comprehensive understanding of accounting and finance, as well as proficiency in accounting software and data analytics. Graduates are eligible for exemptions from various professional accounting bodies, opening doors to a wide range of career opportunities in the accounting and finance industry. The program emphasizes the application of technology and data analytics in accounting and finance, preparing students for the evolving demands of the field.

Outline:

Year 1: Students develop fundamental skills in accounting and finance, as well as an understanding of the legal, business, and social environment in which accounting operates. They gain familiarity with business processes through accounting software and the enterprise resource planning software, SAP. Year 2: Students broaden their skills in traditional areas of Accounting and Finance, such as Management Accounting, Taxation, Financial Management, and Advanced Corporate Reporting. They also develop technology savviness and soft skills through modules such as Emerging Technologies for Accounting and Finance, Data Analytics in Accounting and Finance, and Application of AI in Finance. Year 3: Students expand their knowledge in the application of technologies and data analytics in accounting and finance. They receive hands-on training in Big Data and Visual Analytical in Accounting and Finance, Cybersecurity, and Robo Auditing & Analytics. They also explore the effects of decisions and activities on the environment, society, and governance (ESG) through modules such as Strategy, Sustainability & Leadership and Seminar in Accounting & Finance.

Students who complete the Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (Honours) with a specialism in Accounting Technology are eligible for exemptions from the following Professional Accounting Bodies:

  • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Australia
  • MICPA Professional Stage Examination
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)
  • Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM)
  • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
  • Additionally, students can participate in the ACCA Accelerate Scheme and CPA Australia Fast Track Scheme.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS


DIRECT ENTRY TO LEVEL 1 OF THE DEGREE:

  • STPM:
  • 2 Passes in STPM with a minimum Grade C+ (GP 2.33) and a Credit in Mathematics at SPM Level or its equivalent. (MUET Band 2 is required for all Malaysian Students)
  • A-LEVEL:
  • 2 Passes (Grade A-D) in A-Level in any 2 subjects, and a Credit in Mathematics at SPM/O-Level/ IGCSE or its equivalent
  • UEC:
  • 5 Grade B's in UEC including Mathematics. (MUET Band 2 is required for all Malaysian Students)
  • DIPLOMA IN ACCOUNTING:
  • Passed Diploma with minimum CGPA of 2.5 and a Credit in Mathematics at SPM/O-Level/IGCSE level. Any qualification that APU accepts as equivalent to the above. Note: The above entry requirements may differ for specific programs based on the latest program standards published by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). The qualification and entry requirements for the programs will be determined based on the "Comparison List of Equivalency of International Qualifications with SPM (O-Levels equivalent) and STPM (A-Levels equivalent)" published by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
