Program Overview
This course explores the distinct worldviews and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Metis cultures in North America. Students examine their territories, stories, and the common challenges they face in various aspects of life. The course also analyzes the intersection of Indigenous and Western worldviews and cultures.
Program Outline
This course introduces students to the distinct pre-contact world views of First Nations and Inuit, and the later world view of the Metis of North America. Students will examine the territories, stories, and contributions that these original cultures created through their relationship with their unique environments. Students will explore the common issues that Indigenous peoples around the world face in their history, geography, politics, economics, education, and culture.
