  • Students participate in original basic or clinical research under the supervision of qualified faculty.

Objectives:

  • Provide students with an experience in all aspects of research.
  • Develop students' skills in research design, hypothesis testing, critical evaluation of data, and effective communication of results.
  • Prepare students for careers as clinicians, researchers, or scientists.

Structure:

  • The program consists of three components with the option of clinical exposure:
  • Research project
  • Written report
  • Dissertation

Course Schedule:

  • The program runs during summer recess between years one and two, and years two and three of undergraduate studies in medicine.

Individual Modules:

  • Research Project:
  • Students work with their supervisor to find a suitable project, formulate an experimental protocol, submit the protocol to the Research Ethics Committee, and undertake the project.
  • Written Report:
  • Students submit a written report on their research findings.

Teaching:

  • Students work closely with their supervisor on all aspects of the research project.
