The Bachelor of Agriculture with Honours (S4X) at the University of Tasmania specifically aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, competencies, and awareness in preparation for employment in agricultural research organizations and businesses, as well as for higher degree research. This course provides an entry point to an Honors degree for students who have completed science-based degrees other than the BAgrSc, particularly those who have completed the Bachelor of Agriculture degree.

  • Design, implement, and critically evaluate a scientific investigation to address a research question relevant to agriculture

Course Structure:

  • Students enroll sequentially in Honours A (25%), B (25%), C (25%), and D (25%).
  • Part-time students enroll in one unit per semester, starting with Honours A.

  • Enables students to develop independent research skills, project planning and management skills, high-level verbal and written communication skills, and subject-specific knowledge in their chosen area of specialization.
  • Honours B:
  • Continuation of Honours A, further developing students' research skills, project management, and communication abilities.
  • Honours C:
  • Continuation of Honours B, with a focus on refining research skills, project management, and communication abilities.
  • Honours D:
  • Culmination of the Honours program, where students complete their research projects and present their findings in a thesis.
