The Master of Design (MDes) at Griffith University is an exploration of 21st century creative practices suited to current or emerging designers who wish to complement their existing skills with concepts, strategies, and technologies to solve complex problems in business, government and communities. It offers students the opportunity to advance their skills and knowledge on design context and processes in multiple areas including experience design, design thinking, emerging design futures and business and professional practice. These courses are complimented by a range of practical/making courses in the areas of visual communication, prototyping, still/moving image and interactive design. The program gives a broad range of disciplines (design and non-design) the opportunity to upskill and build upon contemporary practices relevant to all designers and equip them with the knowledge base to pursue a major design research project of their choice. Students will utilize both collaborative and individual working contexts to expand their knowledge of contemporary design processes at professional industry level. They will gain research and critical thinking skills which will be deployed in a major design project in the second year of the program. Graduates will be prepared for practice-led work and/or design strategy and leadership in macro, micro and freelance scenarios. Duration: The Master of Design offers a range of different durations depending on your previous studies: You may be eligible to complete this program in 1.5 years full time, or part-time equivalent (with 40 credit points of advanced standing), if you have: Bachelor, related discipline OR Bachelor Honours, non-related discipline OR Graduate Certificate in Design You may be eligible to complete this program in 1 year full-time, or part-time equivalent, (with 80 credit points of advanced standing) if you have: Bachelor Honours, related discipline OR Graduate Diploma of Design
Teaching:
The Masters program is offered full-time in on-campus mode at the South Bank and Gold Coast campuses.
