Program Overview
This two-year program provides a comprehensive foundation in dental practice, research, and clinical skills. Students will learn the principles of diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient management, and will conduct research projects under faculty supervision. Graduates will be eligible for registration as dentists in Australia and can pursue careers in various dental specialties.

Year 1
- Foundations of Research Inquiry - 7001HSV: This course introduces students to the principles and practice of research in the health sciences. Students will learn how to develop a research question, design a research study, collect and analyze data, and write a research report.
- General Dental Practice 2 - 7401DOH_Y1: This course provides students with a foundation in the clinical practice of dentistry. Students will learn about the principles of diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient management.
- Clinical Dental Sciences 5 - 7402DOH_Y1: This course focuses on the clinical aspects of dentistry. Students will learn about the diagnosis and treatment of common dental conditions.
- General Dental Practice 3 - 7403DOH_Y1: This course builds on the skills learned in General Dental Practice 2. Students will learn about the management of more complex dental conditions.
- Quantitative Research - 6002HLS: This course introduces students to the principles and practice of quantitative research. Students will learn how to design a quantitative research study, collect and analyze data, and write a research report.
- Qualitative Research - 7018NRS: This course introduces students to the principles and practice of qualitative research. Students will learn how to design a qualitative research study, collect and analyze data, and write a research report.
Year 2
- Comprehensive Care - 7502DOH_Y1: This course provides students with the opportunity to apply their clinical skills to the management of complex dental cases. Students will work in a team environment to provide comprehensive care to patients.
- Research Project - 7541DOH_Y1: This course provides students with the opportunity to conduct a research project under the supervision of a faculty member. Students will develop a research question, design a research study, collect and analyze data, and write a research report.
- Comprehensive Care - 7502DOH_Y2: This course builds on the skills learned in Comprehensive Care 1. Students will continue to work in a team environment to provide comprehensive care to patients.
- Research Project - 7541DOH_Y2: This course builds on the skills learned in Research Project 1. Students will continue to work on their research project under the supervision of a faculty member.
Assessment:
This degree program is assessed through a variety of methods, including:
- Exams: Students will take exams at the end of each semester. Exams will cover the material learned in class and in the readings.
- Quizzes: Students will take quizzes throughout the semester to assess their understanding of the material.
- Assignments: Students will complete assignments throughout the semester to demonstrate their ability to apply the material learned in class.
- Presentations: Students will give presentations throughout the semester to share their research findings and to demonstrate their communication skills.
- Clinical skills: Students will be assessed on their clinical skills in the dental clinic.
- Research project: Students will be assessed on their research project. The grading system for this degree program is as follows:

- B: 75-84%
- C: 65-74%
- D: 55-64%
- F: 0-54%
Teaching:
This degree program is taught by a team of experienced faculty members. The faculty members are committed to providing students with a high-quality education. They are available to students outside of class to provide support and guidance. The program also utilizes experiential learning opportunities. Students will participate in clinical rotations in the Griffith University Dental Clinic. These rotations will allow students to apply their skills to the care of real patients.
Careers:
