Fermentation Science Minor (for Biochemistry Majors)
Program Overview
The Fermentation Science Minor (for Biochemistry Majors) at Eastern Michigan University is a 20-21 credit hour program that provides students with a foundation in the science and technology of fermentation. Students will learn about the principles of fermentation, the different types of fermented products, and the applications of fermentation in the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries. The program includes required courses in fermentation science, cell and molecular biology, general microbiology, and instrumental analysis of fermented products, as well as restricted electives in areas such as sensory analysis, fermented beverage production, and fermentation production facilities.
