Middle Ages and the Modern World

Program Overview

This course provides an introduction to the impact of major cultural traditions of the Middle Ages on the modern world. It includes myths, narratives, images, and other forms of representation from a variety of Western European national and religious traditions. Topics may include the study of kings, warriors, saints, knights, mystics, mythological heroes, and exotic beasts such as dragons. It also includes examinations of medieval-themed material in modern popular culture.
