The Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMSc) is a three-year accelerated program designed to prepare students for medical, dental, or pharmacy schools or biomedical research. The program provides a solid foundation in the sciences and humanities, fulfilling all prerequisite requirements for U.S. medical schools within four semesters. Students have access to experienced faculty and benefit from a unique distance learning option that offers support for those facing travel challenges or requiring supervised support. Upon completion of 142 course credit hours, students are eligible for a BMSc degree and qualify to apply for the MD program.

  • Objectives: The program aims to provide a solid foundational understanding of the sciences and the humanities, which will help graduates meet professional school requirements.
  • It also allows for the exploration of various healthcare fields and ensures the fulfillment of all prerequisite requisites for U.S medical schools within four semesters.
  • Program Description:
  • Year 1: Completion of general education coursework and medical school admissions requirements including English, psychology, sociology, math, computer science, physics, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, statistics, public health, evidence-based research, biology, as well as physical, and organic chemistry.
  • Year 2: Completion of core basic medical sciences coursework and learning clinical skills within a combination of volunteer-based work experience, as well as enhanced learning opportunities.
  • Core basic sciences include gross anatomy, microscopic anatomy, cell and molecular biology, the pathological bases of human disease epidemiology, research, and ethics, as well as issues and principles in clinical care.
  • Eligibility for MD program: Students who complete four semesters (Years 1 and 2) will qualify to apply for AUIS’s MD Program.
