Advanced Java Development, Associate Certificate, Part-time
Program Overview
The Advanced Java Development Associate Certificate is a part-time, blended learning program that focuses on application development with Java and advanced Java web app development. Students will learn from subject matter experts and industry professionals, and will be prepared for careers in software development. In addition to required courses, students can choose from a variety of electives, including advanced JavaScript, Android and mobile, Amazon Cloud Architecting, and DevOps with Kubernetes.

The Advanced Java Development (AJD) Associate Certificate is a part-time, blended learning program that builds upon the Applied Software Development (ASD) credential. The program focuses on application development with Java, followed by advanced Java web app development. Electives include advanced JavaScript, Android and mobile, Amazon Cloud Architecting, and DevOps with Kubernetes. The AJD program consists of the following courses:
- COMP 3601: Application Development with Java
- COMP 3833: Object Oriented Analysis and Design
- COMP 4601: Advanced Java Web Application Development In addition to the required courses, students must complete a minimum of 6 credits of electives. Elective options include:
- COMP 1288: IT Project Management Fundamentals
- COMP 2833: Agile Scrum Methods
- COMP 2909: Front-End Web Development with Angular and Vue.js
- COMP 3012: Back-End Web Development with Node.js
- COMP 3013: Front-End Web Development with React.js
- COMP 3215: AWS Academy Cloud Architecting
Teaching:
The AJD program is delivered by subject matter experts and industry professionals, most of whom are actual Java developers working in the local market.
Careers:
