Program Overview

The Bachelor of Education – Elementary program at Mount Royal University prepares individuals for a career in teaching elementary students. The four-year program includes core education courses, minor courses in the humanities, general education courses, and electives. Students complete two practicums and coursework in Program of Studies and Curriculum Instruction in Teaching in various subjects, including English Language Arts, Science, Mathematics, and Social Studies.

The Bachelor of Education – Elementary program aims to prepare individuals for a career in teaching by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to effectively educate elementary students.

Program Description:

The Bachelor of Education – Elementary is a four (4) year baccalaureate degree program offered by Mount Royal University in partnership with Medicine Hat College. The total requirements for this program include 40 courses made up of twenty (20) core education courses (including 2 practicums), eight (8) minor courses in the humanities, six (6) general education courses, and four (4) electives.

Additional Information:

• Placements for practicums will be in Medicine Hat and South Eastern Alberta area schools, in classes ranging from kindergarten through middle school.
