Program Overview

This program prepares students for careers in the recreation management field, including positions in parks and recreation, college recreation, and commercial recreation. Students will learn the skills necessary to plan and coordinate recreational activities, manage facilities, and ensure the safety and enjoyment of visitors. The program also provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through internships and other practical learning opportunities.

• Parks and Recreation: Recreation Management positions oversee parks and recreational facilities, organize community events and programs, manage park operations, and ensure the safety and enjoyment of visitors.
• College Recreation: College Recreation positions coordinate recreational activities on college campuses.
Positions can include recreation directors, program coordinators, intramural sports coordinators, fitness center managers, and outdoor adventure program leaders.
• Commercial Recreation: The commercial recreation sector includes privately-owned businesses that provide recreational experiences.
Recreation Management positions in this sector plan and coordinate recreational activities, lead adventure tours, and manage the image of their company.
