The Associate in Arts in Music program at Olympic College provides a foundation for students aspiring to pursue a bachelor's degree in Music. Objective:

The Associate in Arts degree in Music prepares students to transfer to and pursue a bachelor's degree in Music. The curriculum focuses on music theory, music history, and music literature. Students are also encouraged to participate in performing groups and receive individual music instruction.


Program Description:

The program combines coursework in the following areas:

  • Music theory (six three-credit courses)
  • Music history (two four-credit courses)
  • Music literature (one four-credit course)
  • Music ensembles (four two-credit courses)
  • Individual music instruction (one to two two-credit courses)
  • Students who do not meet basic piano proficiency are required to take Beginning Class Piano (MUSC 133, MUSC 134, or MUSC 135). Students can choose from additional courses in music history, music literature, and ensembles to complete their distribution requirements for the AA.

Students can choose from the following elective courses to complete their degree:
