- Summer Institute (1 credit):
- Required for all doctoral students, focusing on essential skills for program success.
- Applied Dissertation or Strategic Research Project (12 credits):
- Students choose one of two options to complete their capstone project:
- Applied Dissertation: A traditional dissertation that culminates in a written document.
- Strategic Research Project: A research project that addresses a specific issue or problem in the field of education. In addition, students complete a series of required courses, including:

- Research Methods II Students also select a research track in either quantitative or qualitative research, completing six credits of coursework in their chosen track. Those completing the Strategic Research Project option take a different research track, consisting of:
