Program Overview

This music degree program emphasizes classical, jazz, and contemporary studies. Students develop foundational knowledge in music theory, piano, and performance through private lessons, ensembles, and a graduating recital. The program prepares students for further study at a conservatory or a terminal degree at Shoreline Community College with a music emphasis.

Summary:

• Learn from highly accomplished music educators in music theory classes, private music instruction, and ensemble performances with an emphasis on classical, jazz, and contemporary studies.

Objectives:

• Develop and apply foundational knowledge and skills in music theory
• Demonstrate fundamental proficiency in keyboarding, such as piano
• Demonstrate technical proficiency and artistic self-expression in at least one major performance area
