The Graphic Design, Skills Competency Award (SCA): Entrepreneur I program at Santa Barbara City College provides a foundation in graphic design, an understanding of the digital process for designing for print, and entrepreneurial skills. Students develop a strong understanding of design principles and aesthetics, proficiency in industry-standard software, and an ability to apply entrepreneurial skills to develop a freelance business. The program emphasizes the development of a strong portfolio of work that showcases students' skills and creativity.
Structure:
- The program consists of a total of 18 units, all of which must be completed with a "C" or higher or "P" grade.
- At least 20% of the department requirements must be completed through SBCC.
- Students will take a series of core courses in graphic design, including Introduction to Graphic Design, Typography, Intermediate Graphic Design, and Creative Thinking.
- They will also take courses in entrepreneurship, including Entrepreneurship: Idea to Business Model and Marketing Plan Development.
