The Resort, Recreation and Hospitality Management (RRHM) program at Slippery Rock University is a four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) degree program that equips students with the knowledge and skills needed for careers in the hospitality and tourism industry. The program provides a solid foundation in business principles, hospitality operations, and tourism management, with a focus on sustainable practices and event planning. The program's curriculum includes core courses in hospitality management, such as Introduction to HEMT, Sustainability in Food and Hospitality, Contemporary Travel and Tourism, Public Relations for Hospitality, Event Management & Tourism, Programming and Leadership for HEMT, Management of Hospitality & Tourism Facilities, Food and Beverage Operations, Introduction to Meetings and Event Management, and Practicum in HEMT. Students also complete a 12-credit internship in the hospitality or tourism industry. In addition to the core courses, students can choose a concentration in either Resort, Recreation & Hospitality Management or Hospitality Management. The Resort, Recreation & Hospitality Management track includes courses such as Principles of Commercial Recreation/Tourism, Commercial Recreational Feasibility Studies, Hospitality and Tourism Marketing, Resort Recreation Programming, Hotel/Lodging & Hospitality Management, and Event Production and Coordination. The Hospitality Management track includes courses such as Lodging Management, Restaurant Management, Beverage Management, Catering Management, and Hospitality Law.
