The Integrated Learning Skills Course (ILS) is a non-credit course that provides students with the learning and communication skills required to be successful in university studies in a Canadian learning environment. The course includes the basic knowledge skills required to successfully participate in an undergraduate degree program and to operate effectively in a university context. ILS101 is a prerequisite for all UTPII direct students unless exempted.

- INTG100 is a non-credit course that focuses on Academic English.
- The Reading module helps students understand academic readings, including distinguishing between main ideas and supporting details, and facts and opinions.
- The Writing module prepares students for the writing demands of their courses at FIC by guiding them through the process of planning and writing paragraphs and essays, with a focus on persuasive writing.
- The Communications module assists students in building the necessary communication skills to participate and succeed in an academic environment.
- Students will learn how to develop their confidence in speaking in groups and as individuals, with a strong emphasis on understanding purpose and audience.
- Students will build active listening skills through the use of listening strategies learned throughout the course.
