Master of Space Operations

Program Overview

The Master of Space Operations at UNSW Canberra equips students with a comprehensive understanding of spacecraft design, operation, and the space industry. Through hands-on facilities and a flexible course structure, students gain practical skills and knowledge to pursue careers in satellite control, space operations, and space entrepreneurship. The program aims to advance knowledge and expand career opportunities in the rapidly evolving global space sector.

Degree Overview:

• Overview: The Master of Space Operations is designed for postgraduate students who wish to gain a detailed understanding of the technical, strategic and economic drivers required to conceive, design, and operate spacecraft within the rapidly changing global space sector.
• Objectives: Advance knowledge and expand career opportunities in the space industry.
• Program Description: UNSW Canberra has a range of on-site capabilities to enable end-to-end space mission including Australia’s first space mission concurrent engineering design facility.
Space facilities also include the Falcon Telescope, a cleanroom, a thermal vacuum chamber laboratory, and satellite ground stations.

Outline:

• Content: Space systems play an ever-increasing role in our daily lives.
from GPS and banking to environmental and emergency management.
• Structure: Students must complete eight 6-UOC courses from a list provided in the Handbook entry for the program.
The courses may be taken in any order, but the four core courses should be completed first.
