Program Overview
The Ph.D. in Linguistics program offers two emphases: Applied Linguistics and Spanish. The Applied Linguistics emphasis requires 54 credit hours beyond the Bachelor's degree, including 30 hours of formal coursework, 18 hours of dissertation credits, and 9 hours of coursework from the student's M.A. degree. The Spanish emphasis requires 54 credit hours of study beyond the Bachelor's degree, including 30 hours of formal coursework, 18 hours of dissertation credits, and 9 hours of coursework from the student's M.A. degree. Both emphases require 18 hours of graduate work in continuous residence.
