This Bachelor of Arts (Professional) program provides students with a unique opportunity to develop critical thinking and communication skills while exploring a broad range of humanities subjects to enhance their understanding of the world around them and prepare them for careers that involve written content and communication. Students who complete the program will have advanced skills such as conceptual understanding, problem-solving and critical and creative reasoning, which enhance their employability for various roles. The core units in the program are designed to develop a solid foundation in the core aspects of the Humanities disciplines. Some of the topics taught in the core units include technology and society; skills and strategies for social change; change-makers in action, BA professional practice and many more. For their major in Literature and Creative Writing, students will learn traditional and contemporary storytelling styles and how to use the latest online platforms and tools like social media and the internet; to communicate and tell a powerful story. With the practical component, they will hone their skills and gain knowledge about the modern workplace and the ever-changing roles they will fulfill.


Outline:

  • In Year one, the 100 credit points will explore core units like 'Technology and Society", "Writing Fiction" , and a variety of electives and complete reading and writing of different text genres, while developing an understanding of writing fiction
  • The focus in Year two is to introduce major literary units like " diversity in Australian Writing" , " Exploring Iconic texts".
  • Along with these units, students would take electives while engaging in research projects. This totals of around 100 points.
  • In Year three is 100 points which is completely focused on professional work placement for practical training and experience.
  • Units like Work Experience In Industry A or Integrated professional workplace A will be completed.
  • The curriculum for Year four has 75 credit points to complete.
