Structure:
- 16 units total
- 4 core units
- 12 elective units
- 70 hours of work placement
Course Schedule:
- Online delivery, part-time
- Two years of study
- Two units per block over two years
- Each block is nine weeks
- Scheduled webinars (video conferencing) every two weeks for each unit
- Webinars are recorded for review
- Two optional library excursions in Melbourne per year

- Extend own literacy skills to locate information: Develop advanced literacy skills to effectively search, evaluate, and retrieve information from various sources.
- Identify & resolve client ICT problems: Troubleshoot and resolve common ICT issues faced by library clients, providing technical support and guidance.
- Consolidate & maintain library industry knowledge: Stay abreast of current trends and developments in the library industry, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of best practices and emerging technologies.
Elective Units:
- Search library and information databases: Master advanced search techniques to effectively navigate library databases and retrieve relevant information.
- Use advanced functions of integrated library management systems: Utilize advanced features of library management systems to manage library operations, including cataloguing, circulation, and user services.
- Promote literature & reading: Develop strategies to promote reading and literacy, fostering a love of literature and encouraging lifelong learning.
- Develop community & stakeholder relationships in a library environment: Build and maintain relationships with the community and stakeholders, understanding their needs and tailoring library services accordingly.
- Develop & promote library activities, events & public programs: Plan and implement engaging library activities, events, and public programs that cater to diverse audiences and promote the library's role in the community.
- Undertake cataloguing activities: Apply cataloguing principles and standards to organize and describe library materials, ensuring accessibility and discoverability.
- Contribute to collection management: Participate in the development and management of library collections, selecting, acquiring, and maintaining materials to meet user needs.
