Program Overview

The PharmD/PhD program combines a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in pharmaceutical sciences. It prepares students for academic and research careers in the field, providing a strong foundation in pharmacy practice and research. Students complete both degrees in a shortened time frame, taking PhD core courses in place of professional electives and participating in research throughout their matriculation.

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)/Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Overview:

The PharmD/PhD degree program prepares highly qualified students for academic/research careers in the pharmaceutical sciences. It allows students to obtain both degrees in a shortened time frame.

  • PharmD/PhD students are exempt from certain PhD core courses.
  • PharmD/PhD students complete four Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) and four elective experiences, two of which must have a patient-care component.
