This certificate program prepares students with a bachelor's degree to meet the educational requirements for becoming a licensed peace officer in Minnesota. - The certificate is designed for students who have already earned a conferred bachelor's degree in any discipline and want to meet the education requirements to become a licensed peace officer in the State of Minnesota and work for a law enforcement or related agency.
- The successful completion of the curriculum in the certificate, along with the successful completion of the clinical skills component, will allow students to be eligible to take the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) examination for licensing.
- The program includes the following courses:
- CJ 202: Community Relations and Peacekeeping (3 credits)
- CJ 231: Criminal Law & Procedures (4 credits)
- CJ 232: Minnesota Laws, Rules, and Statutes (3 credits)
- CJ 233: Criminal Investigation (3 credits)
- CJ 242: Peace Officers and Human Behavior (3 credits)
- CJ 255: Juvenile Delinquency & Justice (3 credits)
