Program Overview

The Drama - Technical/Design (BFA) program at the University of Lethbridge is a rigorous and hands-on program that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the technical and design aspects of theatre. The program emphasizes the connections between design and technical production, ensuring students appreciate historic traditions while anticipating future trends. Students in the program will explore courses in all aspects of technical theater, including scenery, lighting, sound, costuming, stage management, and safety. They will have the opportunity to work behind the scenes in a season of diverse theater productions, ranging in style and scale. The program also offers work-integrated learning opportunities, including co-operative education, international exchanges, independent and applied studies, and volunteer opportunities. Students can participate in a dynamic season of theater activities, including Mainstage productions supervised by professors, the student-run TheatreXtra series, and an array of practical workshops, play readings, public forums, and special events.

Entry Requirements:
For admission, Canadian high school students in Alberta must have completed five of the following courses with a minimum 65% average across them:
