The Political Science major at Black Hills State University (BHSU) prepares students to excel in critical analysis, research, and writing skills. Civic leadership and global citizenship are emphasized throughout the program. The curriculum includes:
- Required Core (27 semester hours): Includes courses such as American Government, Governments of the World, Introduction to International Relations, Introduction to Political Theory, Public Opinion and Polling, Democracy and Democratization, and United States Institutions.
- Civic Leadership Track (choose 2 courses): Focuses on understanding state and local government, civic engagement, public administration, American Indian government and politics, and more.
- Global Citizenship Track (choose 2 courses): Explores revolution and revolt, model United Nations, international political economy, political geography, American foreign relations, and theories of the state.
