Overview:
The Skilled Trades program is designed for individuals with a background or interest in pursuing skilled trades such as automotive, electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, carpentry, and welding. The program aims to advance their careers into supervisory or management roles. It provides up to 30 credits toward the Associate in Applied Science Degree for a trade or technical certificate completed at the college and may include equivalent work or training experiences assessed as Credit for Prior Learning. The curriculum includes general education courses that strengthen communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills essential to career advancement.
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this program, students should be able to:
- Build on acquired technical skills required in a relevant skilled trade.
- Communicate in an effective and professional manner both verbally and in writing.
- Apply the knowledge of mathematics to skilled trades problems.
