The Aboriginal University Bridging Certificate Program prepares students for post-secondary education by providing customizable prerequisites and skills. Students can select courses in English, Biology, Mathematics, Computer Studies, and more. The Aboriginal University Bridging Certificate Program is designed to provide students with the necessary prerequisites and skills to successfully transition into post-secondary education programs. The program is customizable, allowing students to select Adult Basic Education (ABE) courses to meet their specific needs. Students may also choose to take additional entry-level university courses.
Program Content:
- Courses are available in English, Biology, Mathematics, Math for Trades, Computer Studies, Chemistry, and Introduction to Science.
- Optional: University-level courses or orientation to trades programs.
Course Schedule:
Sample program streams are provided for students bridging into Forestry, Practical Nursing, and Trades programs. Other courses and programs are available.

Domestic Fees
Tuition and Other Mandatory Student Fees When applying to the program, applicants will be charged a non-refundable application fee. When applying to graduate, students will be charged a non-refundable graduation and alumni fee. Some courses have additional fees to pay for extraordinary class–related expenses. Fees - Two Semesters Amount Tuition (ABE courses x $0 + 10 academic credits x $163.14 per credit) 1,631.40 Student Activity fee (4% of tuition) 65.26 Student Services fee (10 credits x $7.21 per credit) 72.10 VIU Students' Union fee (8 months x $26.59 per month) 212.72 Health and Dental Plan fee ($265.00 per year) 265.00 Total 2,246.48 Notes The above table is based on two 3-credit courses and four ABE courses over two semesters. Students taking additional courses should adjust the fee total accordingly. Approximate cost for books and supplies: $50 - $150 per semester. Costs vary depending on courses selected. The VIUSU Health and Dental Plan fee is assessed for all students enrolled in 6 credits or more per term, or in Trades/Vocational programs of 5 months or longer. All fees are subject to change without prior notice and are expected to increase by 2% each year on April 1.
