Program Overview
The SIT20421 Certificate II in Cookery provides a foundation in culinary skills, covering core units in food preparation, kitchen operations, and food safety. Students can choose elective units from groups A, C, or D to specialize in areas such as cookery, catering, or patisserie. Upon completion, graduates are prepared for entry-level roles in the hospitality industry, including breakfast cook, catering assistant, and fast-food cook.

- To be awarded the SIT20421 Certificate II in Cookery, a total of thirteen (13) units of competency must be achieved, comprising of:
- seven (7) core units
- six (6) elective units, of which:
- four (4) units must be from Group A, Group B or Group C
- two (2) units from Group A, Group B, Group C or Group D

Entry Requirements:
VDSS: The suitability, literacy and numeracy levels of applicants will be assessed through consultation with the relevant secondary school. VCE Vocational Major (VM): The suitability, literacy and numeracy levels of applicants will be assessed during the VCE Vocational Major application process with relevant VU teaching staff. Applicants must be 16 years and over at the time of course commencement. Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.
