About Program

Program Overview

The Kinesiology program provides a comprehensive foundation in human movement, anatomy, and physiology. Students explore various movement-based activities and select courses from areas such as chemistry, physics, statistics, and first aid. The program prepares graduates for careers in healthcare, coaching, athletic training, and education, or for further studies in related fields.

Program Outline

Outline:

  • Introduction to Kinesiology (KINE 008):
  • A comprehensive exploration of kinesiology as a field of study, its historical foundations, and contemporary applications in various domains such as healthcare, coaching, and athletic training. (3 units)
  • Human Anatomy and Physiology I (BI 013):
  • A detailed examination of human anatomy and physiology, encompassing the structure and function of the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems. (4 units)
  • Human Anatomy and Physiology II (BI 014):
  • A continuation of Human Anatomy and Physiology I, focusing on the respiratory, circulatory, endocrine, digestive, and reproductive systems. (5 units)
  • Movement Based Courses:
  • Students must select one course from at least three different areas (aquatics, combatives, dance, fitness, individual sports, team sports) for a total of 3 units.
  • List A:
  • Select 2 courses from the following:
  • General Chemistry I (CH 001A):
  • An introduction to the fundamental principles of chemistry, including atomic structure, chemical bonding, and chemical reactions. (5 units)
  • First Aid and Safety (KINE 001):
  • A comprehensive exploration of first aid and safety procedures, preparing students to respond effectively to emergencies. (3 units)
  • College Physics I (PH 002A):
  • An introduction to classical physics, encompassing kinematics, dynamics, energy, momentum, and simple harmonic motion. (4 units)
  • Fundamentals of Statistics (SOC 003):
  • A foundation in statistical methods, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation. (3 units)
  • Statistical Methods (MATH 014):
  • (4 units)
