- Program Overview: The Industrial Mechanic HVAC program at Madison College trains students in the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of residential, commercial, and industrial HVAC and refrigeration equipment. Graduates will also learn about residential and commercial processing applications, refrigerant 410A safety, and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certifications. Students will gain an understanding of HVAC retrofit requirements, the use of alternative refrigerants and associated oils, and the construction of automation systems using computer and electronic controls. The program combines management strategies and programmable control applications to cut energy costs and increase efficiency and provides training on specialized diagnostic equipment and tools used in the HVAC refrigeration industry.

- Description: The Industrial Mechanic HVAC program is a one-year technical diploma program that provides students with a comprehensive education in the HVAC industry. The program is offered in a hybrid format, with some classes held online and some held in person at the Madison Truax campus. Students will complete 31 credits of coursework, including general education courses such as College Mathematics and Safety for Industry, as well as HVAC-specific courses such as Refrigeration Fundamentals, HVAC Installation Basics, and EPA 608 Training & Certification.
