Program Overview
The Early Childhood Education: Preschool embedded technical diploma at Madison College equips students with the skills to teach children ages 3-5 in early childhood settings.
The program includes courses in early language and literacy, health, safety, and nutrition, child development, and guiding child behavior.
Graduates are prepared for careers as child care teachers, assistant teachers, family child care providers, and in-home providers
annies.

Degree Overview:
The Early Childhood Education: Preschool embedded technical diploma at Madison College prepares students with the skills needed to work as a teacher with children ages 3 - 5 years in early childhood settings. Research demonstrates that the best predictor of quality childcare is a teacher's level of education. Upon admission to the program, students will complete a background and criminal history check form and submit it to the program director.

- 10-307-108 ECE: Early Language and Literacy (3 credits)
- 10-307-167 ECE: Health, Safety, & Nutrition (3 credits)
- 10-307-174 ECE: Introductory Practicum (3 credits)
- Second Semester:
- 10-307-110 ECE: Social Studies, Art, and Music (3 credits)
- 10-307-179 ECE: Child Development (3 credits)
- 10-307-188 ECE: Guiding Child Behavior (3 credits)
- 10-307-175 ECE: Preschool Practicum (3 credits) Travel to fieldwork sites is necessary and the responsibility of the student. Some courses in the program involve preparation of learning materials, field trips, etc.
