This program provides a comprehensive understanding of sustainability, data analytics, economics, and programming. Students learn to analyze complex issues, design solutions, and use data to make informed decisions. Graduates are eligible for registration with professional organizations in marketing, accounting, human resources, computer science, and information technology.
Program Outline
Outline:
- Sustainability (BBUS1SBY): Introduces the concept of sustainability and a systems approach to understanding the complex interactions between the environmental, economic, and social dimensions of sustainability. Students are required to critique, design, and present an action plan aimed at resolving a sustainability issue that impacts current and future generations.
- Data Analytics Concepts (BBUS1001): Teaches students how to use Structure Query Language (SQL) to pull relevant data into Excel and facilitate further analysis. Advanced Excel analyses including pivot tables, statistical analysis, and creation of basic forecasting models are also covered.
- Economic Issues and Public Policy (BBUS1IEI): Explores the study of human behavior, particularly the choices that individuals, businesses, and governments make to deal with scarcity and the incentives that guide those choices. Students will learn how the forces of demand and supply coordinate the behavior of individuals and businesses in the market and how government policy affects those market outcomes.
- Programming Environment (TCSE1PE): Students learn and apply fundamental programming concepts, analyze, design, construct, and document solutions to simple programming problems. Java programs are developed using command line interface tools and Unix operating system.
Careers:
- Graduates with the Bachelor degree may be eligible for registration with the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI), CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI), the Australian Computer Society (ACS), or the Information Technology Professionals Association (ITPA).
