This program requires a total of 60 university-transferable credits, at least 15 of which must be completed at Douglas College, and at least 33 credits must be from Arts and Humanities subjects. The Liberal Arts Diploma addresses the needs of students pursuing educational or career goals in the arts, humanities or social sciences. The diploma may serve as an educational goal or as an intermediate qualification for those completing further degrees at Douglas College or elsewhere.

Content:

  • Breadth requirement: 30 university-level credits from at least five subject areas.
  • No more than 12 credits from any one subject area can be used to satisfy this requirement.
  • Writing requirement: One of ENGL 1130 or ENGL 1200, or CMNS 1110, CMNS 1111 or CMNS 1115
  • Reasoning requirement: Either PHIL 1101 or PHIL 1201; or at least three credits from list A and three credits from list B:
  • Laboratory Science requirement: One university-level laboratory science course of at least three credits.
