The Food Service Worker program is a one-semester inclusive undertaking that will provide you with the knowledge and skills to be an effective member of an inter-professional health care team in Health care facilities. This program was developed in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, professional organizations, and employers.
Objectives:
- Incorporating lecture and practical experience in a food lab, you'll learn about quantity food preparation, basic therapeutic diets and nutrition, proper sanitation and safety practices, effective communication, and quality customer service.
- To round out your training, you'll participate in an arranged work experience field placement. This aspect of the program will provide you with hands-on experience that will allow you to apply classroom learning in a real-world work situation.

This Food Service Worker program is based on documentation developed by members of Dietitians of Canada and the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management. During the first 10 weeks of the Food Service Worker program, classroom and online courses will deal with the theoretical aspects of food service, the nutrition industry, and the delivery of quality customer service.
