Program Overview
Centennial College's Early Childhood Education program prepares Black learners to become leaders in the field. The fully funded program provides students with the knowledge and skills to design child-centered learning, support children's development, and create inclusive early learning environments. Graduates are eligible for registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators and can pursue careers in various settings, including childcare centers, preschools, and schools.

The Early Childhood Education (ECE) program at Centennial College is designed to prepare students to become leaders in the early childhood education profession. The program is fully funded for Black learners in partnership with Tropicana Community Services. The cohort has been created specifically for Black learners from the Greater Toronto Area.
Objectives:
The objectives of the ECE program are to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to:
- Design curriculum for child-centered, play-based learning
- Support children’s learning and development by responding to their unique needs and interests
- Build caring relationships with children, families, and communities
- Create safe, healthy and inclusive early learning environments
Program Description:
The ECE program is a two-year, four-semester program that includes a combination of theoretical and practical learning experiences. Students will learn about child development, early childhood education theory and practice, and the role of the early childhood educator.
